About GigMatch

Helping people earn more, live better, and retire stronger.

GigMatch helps people find flexible, meaningful side gigs, so they can turn their stuff, interests, and skills into extra income for today's needs and tomorrow's goals.

The research

There's science behind this.

Economist Sendhil Mullainathan and psychologist Eldar Shafir spent years studying what it does to people to have less money than they need. Their argument, in a nutshell: money worries take up mental bandwidth. They crowd out attention and make longer-term thinking harder. Not because people are careless, but because there's only so much bandwidth to go around.1,2

Other researchers have found the same pattern at work. In one study combining field data with a lab experiment, workers who were more worried about money had less cognitive capacity available to them, and that showed up in how they performed on the job.3

Money worries are also widespread, and people feel them. In the American Psychological Association's 2025 Stress in America survey, two in three U.S. adults called money a significant source of stress, and about three in four said they'd had at least one symptom of stress in the past month.4

Our belief: the answer isn't more advice. It's more income, from a carefully matched side gig. Not a draining second job, but something that fits who you are. The best gigs don't feel like work at all. GigMatch was built around exactly that idea.

A story of purpose and freedom

George's origin story.

George Fraser, GigMatch founder
I've met with thousands of people, but I remember meeting one man who shared he wasn't sleeping because he discovered that after nearly 40 years working in the woods, his retirement “fun money” after expenses amounted to only $400 a month. He was both embarrassed and afraid. He had no contingency savings. Life had happened.
George Fraser, Founder

George had spent 35 years helping people prepare for retirement. All too often he noticed that despite their best intentions to save, many people fell short because life happened. Illness. Divorce. Caring for aging parents. Many more were living paycheck to paycheck, worried about putting food on the table Friday night. They were financially stressed, and George felt it.

The solution, the industry said, is sacrifice today so you can have a better life tomorrow. Give up your coffee. Downsize. Don't take vacations. Recommendations like that are common. But George had a different idea, one that offered hope and a way to live a better life today and tomorrow.

He began crafting creative ways to bridge the financial shortfall through options most people didn't even know were right in front of them. George gave people hope.

George asked the man who had worked 40 years in the woods, “If you could live the life you imagined, what would you do?” The man lit up. “I would spend every hour on my boat.” George got an idea. “Have you heard of BoatSetter.com? For 27 days a month, that boat is all yours, but for the other three or four days, you can take people on tours exploring the beautiful Oregon coast. And make $500 every time.” It was life-changing. No more financial stress. And it was life-making. He got to do what he loved and share it with people who loved it too.

If George could do this for one person, why not do it for more? That is when the magic happened and GigMatch was born. Millions of hardworking Americans are caught between living paycheck to paycheck and the pressure to save for retirement. And many retirees are struggling after working their whole lives. It doesn't have to be this way.

George and his team of financial professionals created GigMatch to help people see the possibilities. To view earning, saving, and retiring in a new way. To bridge financial shortfalls. And to create hope.
